I've got EMG81/85 in my ibanez S1220. JB is a good allrounder for Duncan. Anything has to be better than those crappy powerhouse "powerpuke" pups.

What amp do you use, what kind of "Pup EQ" are you looking for? lots of bass? treble?

welcome to the board! :)

tell us what kind of music you will be playing and what kinds of tone you are looking to get .. a JB or a C5 in the bridge should smoke .. an A2P or 59 in the neck would also rock ... but there are other combos for other kinds of music that would do even better .. let us know and we'll give you our collective 2 cents

good luck

well i was thinking of getting... SH-4 jb's to start out...and then later on combining them with SH-2n jazz Models. i like playing metallica a lot and do a lot of their solos...a lot of heavy metal..but also classic rock like led zeppelin. i use a crate XT15r....lol cant afford much else...so im saving up a lot for these pickups...tellme wat u tihnk

Re: Pickups for my Ibanez

a jazz neck and a jb bridge should be KILLER for what you are going for

DUDE! It may be just me, but I have an Ibanez sz520qm and dammit those are some good stock pups... the fact that I'm replacing them soon for more bass/treble (b/n) is beside the point :fing25: but anyway lol... some crazy Japanese company makes them, its called Godo or sumthin like that but anyway are you sure its a good idea to change? have you experimented enough with ur amp and such? what kind of amp is it anyway?

IMO, you should get a bet amp first. your RG won't sound all that bad with a decent amp. then later on you can get some killer duncans and make it even better.

for what you'll be paying for duncans, you can get a pretty decent amp off of ebay.

but i think you should DEFINETLY get a better amp first.

Ditto. Amp is mostly where the sound comes from.

Re: Pickups for my Ibanez

hey welcome to the forum.
I play a RG 550 with JB and it is killer. The JB puts new live in my RG thru a decent (!!) amp.
I would first put the money in a decent amp. If you have an amp you like you can change PUs to nail the right tone and feel.
