Listen to Lew first and then me..These are the pickups to buy..Actually an investment in guitar Godism tone! :dance: :burnout: I'm buying a second set of Antiquities from Lew also because they're that good..

Yup.
That's what I put in my Amer. Strat and it can reproduce sounds like the guitar greats you listed. IMO the best single coils Seymour has to offer, and he does the winding on a bunch of 'em....the two out of three that I bought were wound by Seymour himself, with the other by MJ.

I love 'em, would recommend them to anyone looking for a great vintage Strat s.c. sound out of their guitar, and most likely will never replace them in this Strat.
The next best pups next to those would have to be the APS-1 or APS-2 (staggered or flat). I'm getting ready to install one in the middle position of my 60's Reissue Strat (that position p.u. always sounds a little bright in that guitar, so that's why I went to an APS-1 there...being a little warmer than the SSL-1 which I decided to put in the neck position, which in my axe is notoriously warmer), along with a SSL-1 in the neck and a SSL-3 in the bridge. I think it'll sound pretty freakin' good.
But who knows? I may end up swapping them out for Antiquity's one day.
