Wanting to look at new pickups for my 70's northern ash strat. Either Fralin blues specials in neck and middle or fralin vintage hots and lil 59' or jb jr. in the bridge? Right now has vintage noisless in them. Guitar is pretty bright sounding. WIll split the lil 59 or jb jr in position #4 and full on in position #5. Guitar has demeter mid boost preamp...

Wanting malmsteen, srv, hendrix, knopfler, gilmour, clapton single sounds and a good rock bridge sound (Alice in chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Van halen).

Advice....

Thanks,

Steve

I just finally "solved" my bright ash CIJ '71RI with APS-1's in the neck and middle and a Lil '59 in the bridge. The APS-1's will get you the Hendrix/Knopfler/Gilmour/Clapton stuff, but a JB Jr. might be a better bridge pup for your other tastes.

I wasn't sure if the JB jr. might be too bright for the bridge of a Ash guitar? Thought might have to get t lil 59 to tame some of the highs?

What about the Texas hots for neck and middle or Hot stacks for neck and middle? Any experience with them in an Northern ash strat?
