Pickups For Sale!

Hey guys!

I've got a few pups for sale. Nickel Covered Pearly Gates Neck and SD Custom, [SOLD]! I've also got an early 70s T-Top...Not sure exactly what its worth, but its an early 70s Paten Sticker one with the embossed Gibson logo on the chrome cover. Aside from the missing Pat sticker it is totally completely NOS worthy mint pickup. The cover has never been removed...doesn't even look like its been soldered, though I'm not sure about that....measures 7.87k ...make me an offer!

Thanks,

Mike

sad to say, but without the sticker it'll be hard to peg as a late 60's/eraly 70's T.

The research I've done says that the only pickup that had the embossed Gibson logo on it was a 70-72 T-Top...if you know something else, please let me know!

Is that Ttop epoxied? D/C?

I'm not sure if its epoxied...the cover has never been removed...everything I know about it came from info I got posting images in a few different forums (TGP, LP, etc...) I got pretty consistent information...here are pics:

That's not epoxied. The epoxied stuff has a black epoxy bottom.

Looks pretty kosher to me.

Re: Pickups For Sale!

Do you know which T-tops were epoxied? I hadn't heard about that...is it considered a good or bad thing or does it date the pup somehow?

Love the avatar, uOpt...

Re: Pickups For Sale!

I thought only 1972 pickups have Gibson on the cover. Of the many Gibson geetars I've looked at on the bay, only 1972's have had them - so far.

I have a 1977 LP Custom - pickups NOT epoxied.

I had a 1979 SG Std. - pickups were epoxied.

Good thing if you don't ever want to remove the cover, and don't like feedback.

Bad thing if you want to remove the cover, enjoy feedback, or want a more "airy" sounding pickup, ala Antiquities.

This may be true...some others have said it was late 70-72, but either way it seems like a small window.

I have one epoxied from 1980, confirmed by a data stamp.

Another from 1976, but I only have the seller's word on that.

It's considered a bad thing, although the inside might or might not be a perferctly normal Ttop from the same period. Certainly not as deadly as the circuit board stuff.
