pickups interfering

okay simple and stupid question can pickups interfere with each other because i think i put the pickups to close together thank you very much-andrew

Context is everything.

What pickups are under discussion here? What sort of guitar are they in? How are they mounted? How much gain has been dialled in on the amplification and any effect pedals?
