Pickups picking up signal from each other.

So I have a Gibson Explorer. I recently outfitted it with the Black Winter set. At first I thought I hated these pickups, so I was gonna yank them outta my guitar, I thought they were too bassy. I was discussing it with a friend who also had the Black Winter set and he didn't feel there was any bass in his pickups.

Tonight I discovered that each pickup is still slightly picking up a signal, even when it's off. If i tap a screwdriver on the polepieces of the pickup that is "off" i can hear tapping. It's not as powerful as the pickup that's "on' but it's there.

When I roll off the volume knob of the pickup that is "off" it doesn't pick up the tapping and stays quiet.

I've replaced the switch and the wires on the input jack.

I've double and triple checked my wiring, even discovered i switched the green and the black wires but the problem persists. I can find any stray connections that would be causing a crossed wire. Does anyone else have any idea where to look?

It's not that pickup picking-up anything when tapped. It's the active pickup picking up the tap noises. It's picking up the body vibrations as opposed to the magnetic vibrations caused by tapping with a screwdriver.

Pickups do tend to be slightly microphonic and it's just body vibrations you're hearing.

maybe something about the wiring....excess lead for example, is causing some mechanical connection.

or perhaps there is a coupling through the shared tone pot.

Ahh. I thought you were just flipping the switch. I'm drawing a blank then.
