Pickups that are very responsive?

hey guys, i was wondering which pickups are very responsive and dynamic to your touch; for example, the way you are plucking the note different ways with a pick, or finger picking, how it would sound as compared as you would normally play, etc. I was thinking baout buying a antiquity for the neck and a seth lover bridge for my paul, but i would like a pickup(s) that are very responsive and dynamic depending on how you play. i play mostly rock and jazz; no metal, country, blues (but jazz blues!), etc. thanks guys

I would go with 2 antiquities, but I think you´re more or less on the right track. You may also want to consider the Alnico2Pro, depending on how warm the tone should be.

As a related side note, bolt-on guitars tend to be snappier and more articulate as well, if you´re working with a set-neck like a paul you may want to consider that as well ;)

Re: Pickups that are very responsive?

I'll just add that I feel pickups with alnico 2 magnets, like the Seth Lover, are more touch responsive, due to the fact that they have less string pull and more sustain. Pickups with alnico 5 magnets seem to have more dynamic range, due to the fact that they are usually brighter, with more highs and lows.

BTW, I am going to use a set of Seths in my Goldtop, partly because they're more historically accurate, and partly for the reasons you've mentioned - and they just sound darn good. The Antiquities are a great choice as well - you can't go wrong with either.

Seths are very responsive pickups and work great for rock, blues and jazz tones. Sound wonderful in a Les Paul. Alnico II Pros are great too, but the Seths have a little extra magic.

Yes, I think any low output humbucker with an alnico II magnet with give you a very respossive tone. You may also consider any low output alnico V humbuckers like the 59 or the Jazz. Thoose are a bit less touch sensitivity but very expresive and will satisfied any "clear-tone" lover.

You may prefer the tone of an Alnico V over any alnico II pickup so don't overlook them because they are very respossive too. :)

I preffered my 59 neck over a DM Paf classic (alnico II) because it had more bass and treble and maked it more expressive to my ears.
