Pickups that give a Green Day sound?

Hi there,
I'm asking this for a friend as he has a Squier Mike Dirnt Signature P-Bass, hence the Green Day sounding request. He looking for a sound similar to the sound in this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbMLm-AOzMk ). From what I know, Mike was running an Ampeg something or other, and either a P-Bass or a Gibson G-3. What pickups would you guys recommend (his words) : "To get the deep punchy sound but bright on the high notes?"

The Steve Harris P bass pickup might work actually, if not you can give this a shot.

Both are basically vintage style alnico 5 p bass pickups but the Harris is wound a little hotter.
Of course it is important to use a pick and get the technique down, but also look into bridge replacements as he uses a Leo Quan Badass II bass bridge. They make the top end a little brighter and punchier to most people's ears and are a little more stable then the bridge on that Squire. Fender recently bought them out I think but there are still a few floating around and Fender is offering their own bridge replacement versions of them. I don't know if you will need a badass or 3 with that bass though.

getting his tone is really more abut the amp than the pick up.

I would go with a set of Quarter Pound pickups, get some new slinky strings, and play with a pick like you mean it!

Back then it was just his '69 P bass's stock pickup through an SVT. On Geek Stink Breath he has the gain up a bit and has the tone on his bass at about 35-40%.

He stopped using the G3 in the studio after Kerplunk and used it live until Nimrod as seen here.
