I'm looking for replacement pickups for a tele delux any one have any sugestions ? I play everything from country/blues to todays rock and would like to find something to cover all of these areas. I'm currently looking at the hot rails/ cool rails combo. the tele delux has the strat center pickup. I also need to know if any one sugests a different neck pickup other than a cool rail.

thanks:usa1:

There's an awful lot of things you can do with that combo. If it was me, I'd start with the bridge. Since its a Tele, I'd want classic Tele in that position. A Jerry Donahue would be killer, but an Antiquity II would be also. The JD would be a bit smoother, and the Ant II a bit more open and airy.

From there, it would be cool to pair that bridge with a classic Strat pup in the neck. Like an APS-1/2 or an SSL-1/2. (Staggered/flat) I would reverse the middle and bridge wires on the 5-way so that the first 3 positions give you traditional Tele tones:

Neck / neck & bridge/ bridge.

Then round out the whole deal with something a little different for the middle. Either a Cool Rails or a Lil 59 would be great. The last two positions on the 5-way then give you:

middle & bridge, and then that middle pup by itself.

Thats how I'd do it. There's other ways. ;)

Re: picups for a tele delux

One of the main reasons for considering the upgrade on this guitar is it's my favorite besides that the tone gets very thin during bends; as the string moves away from the post on the pup the volume seems to drop as well. Maybe that is a trait of the tex-mex factory pups. The Ibanez has SD distortion after market pup installed and deosn't have this problem.

I don't play in a band any more but when I sit in from time to time I dont want to carry 3 guitars, trying to cut down on luggage for a fun night. :27: :laugh2:

Re: picups for a tele delux

You could always go with Hot Rails/Vintage Rails/Cool Rails. That would solve the bending issue, and still be a pretty versatile axe.

I think its Travis that has that. (Although, in a Strat.)
