Put it between the neck and the body...right there in the neck pocket. Run the output to one of the magnetic pickup's input, and you got a sustainer!

hmm I might have to try that one too... when you say the pickup's input, what wire would that be in a seymour duncan color code?

Any updates yet? I find this very interesting!
I'm building a custom stratocaster as we speak, and my plans were to have both a floyd rose and a piezopickup in the guitar.
I looked into the Ghost system from Graphtech, but in my opinion it's way too much money. At least for me right now.

I never thought it would be possible to use the "Radioshack-trick" on floyds also. Untill I saw this thread.
So please keep us updated on any developments with the piezos and the pre-amp? It would be of great help for many I think.

I haven't gotten into building a preamp, I don't know if I will. If you mix the piezo with the magnetic pickup you get an interesting sound, at least clean. Maybe I'll just keep it that way, as I only have a bridge pickup in that guitar (no neck). But one thing, if you actually use the tremolo system, which I don't, the way I mounted it will probably not work.

I would also advise to either use the piezo or the tremolo system. Personally I'm a piezo fan so the choice for me is obvious but "Choose your destiny!" :14:

Graph Tech makes piezo saddles, yeah? Anybody tried those?

I haven't used the GraphTech stuff but I am a huge fan of the Fishman piezos. I have a Fishman in my Parker Fly that came stock and I put an aftermarket Fishman PowerBridge in my Iceman. THe range of tone is amazing especially when mixed with the magnetic pickups. I also feel the Fishman is a cleaner looking install than the GraphTech if you google some pictures you will see what I am talking about.

Bartolini sells a buffer/preamp circuit for mixing magnetics and piezo... something under $50, IIRC...

I have one of the PowerBridges in a LP copy I designed and wired up (Skip Helms of Asheville did most of the construction - solid work). I'm happy with how it sounds, but it's been finicky for me. *shrug*

What would the best volume pot value to use for the piezo disk pre boost and eq
