hey can someone explain to me what a piezo is and what is does? thanks

It is a type of pickup made out of crystals that are sensitive to pressure. So instead of a magnetic field, they translate pressure into a voltage- you need a preamp. They are usually built into bridge saddles- and you amplify them separate from magnetic pickups. They sound best through a full range system, like a PA. The sound can be just like a plugged in acoustic guitar, depending on the quality of the preamp and pickups.
