Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone -- song demo

TwilightOdyssey

Darkness on the edge of Tone
I know there is a fair amount of controversy re: Pigtronix pedals, and the Philosopher's Tone in general. It's a thick, meaty pedal that likes to be kept on, or at least fed constant signal, lest you get a weird 'sag' and clipping when it clamps down; it's never 'totally' clean as it always has some degree of grit; it requires its own power supply.

Hence why I love it; it's quirky and coloured and it's transformed the way I look at compressors.

This song is pretty atmospheric and requires long, sustaining notes. The Philosopher's Tone helped achieve an almost Ebow-like sustain.

The Empress of Dreams
(c) 2008

In a temple East of waking
Where disciples once appeared
I have held my endless court these many million years

Long ago the kings of men were
By the Cruciform deceived
Seeds of myth they grew until none living believed
In the Empress of Dreams

Enthroned upon a tempest rising
Above a surging, vermillion sea
Served by senses ever reaching; the stars they dance for me

Through wasted eons of shining kingdoms
A billion worlds, a billion suns
My dreaming eye conceiving into being each and every one
All seen by the Empress of Dreams

cool! dig that site too - I like how you can see the waveforms.

[aside: I always seem to want more verb or delay on the vox in your songs. the voice is good, but I think it'd benefit from some 70s captain beyond-ish kinda trippy effects.]
