Pimped out Agile Les PAul

Hey guys,

I bought this ALL SOlid Wood Agile Les paul copy in honeyburst a year ago. Since then I have put duncan pickups in, customized the wiring with three push pulls and many tones, added a tone pros solid and heavy locking bridge, and put locking tuners on it. Im asking $800 total for this near mint condition guitar that sounds and feels truly amazing. Anyone interested?

Re: Pimped out Agile Les PAul

What model Agile LP is it, and specifically what did you do to it? Which pickups, tuners, bridge, etc?

Not meaning to piss in your Cheerios, but I'm trying to figure out how a $250 guitar (new) ends up nearly quadrupling in price (used) with new pickups, pots, tuners, and a bridge.

That said, these are great guitars and can be made very nice with such upgrades.

Re: Pimped out Agile Les PAul

^+1, but I was holding back. $800 is totally gouging.

Re: Pimped out Agile Les PAul

I agree, you generally don't get to add to a guitar's price what you paid for mods when selling, much less drastically increase it. I think you'd be lucky to get $400-500 personally. Good luck with the sale, pics really help to move gear around here.

Re: Pimped out Agile Les PAul

+1, Post's 3,4,5 are on the money bro!

Re: Pimped out Agile Les PAul

The guitar is the top of the line model, going new for 500. With all the mods i did, which are fully explained in the first post, it goes to about 750. I added 800 for haggling range since this thing is near mint. Its the only guitar i havent cosmetically damaged after buying.

I'll get some pics up soon.

Things not fully explained in the first post:
What model of Duncan pickups?
What specifically is the wiring?
What do the push pulls do other than push...............& pull?
What brand of locking tuners?
You said you bought it a year ago & what it goes for new but not if you bought it new or used - so:
Is it the original headstock design or the 'Gumby'?
Is it the original (Gibson-like) horn or the shorter horn?

The "top of the line" Agile goes for $529. Is yours that model (the AL-3500) or a different one?

Thanks,
~MkF!

If it's one of the top notch guys then yeah, you're sell price will be a little higher. However, you still won't get back everything you put into the mods. For $800 someone could pick up a used Gibby LP Studio or a USA Hamer.

Re: Pimped out Agile Les PAul

Or an Edwards ! Even better and already loaded with Duncans and quality hardware.

Re: Pimped out Agile Les PAul

My bad guys, Here are some more details:

Sperzel locking tuners

Custom in the bridge and alnico 2 pro in the neck

You can switch to single coil mode on each pickup individually, as well as change the phase on the bridge pickup which adds at least 7 different sounds on top of the traditional ones.

Bought it brand new from Rondo, i believe that the headstock is the newer Legal design, and the horn was probably also the newer design. I'll take a pic this weekend so you guys can take a look.

So all this stuff really adds up to a total "new" value of $750 so you figure you'd throw an extra $50 on top anyway??

How do you expect to sell a used guitar(even if it's mint) for more than what it costs new???

Am I missing something here??

Re: Pimped out Agile Les PAul

yup, you are missing the fact that i was throwing out a ball park price. I'll probably get 600-700 for it if i actually sold it. Take it easy guys im not trying to rip anyone off. The truth is this guitar plays and sounds much better than it ever could and it can really hang there with the higher quality axes out there.

Re: Pimped out Agile Les PAul

I dont think anyone is worried about you trying to rip someone off, as much as they are trying to let you know not to expect too much. I would personally be surprised if it went for $700.

Re: Pimped out Agile Les PAul

So i could by this off you...or i could buy the exact same guitar brand new, mod it in exactly the same way and have $50 left over in my back pocket for a slap up meal.

Agiles are nice, so are duncans, but i think your maths is a bit off here dood.

Re: Pimped out Agile Les PAul

Here's my suggestion:

Put all the stock parts back in and sell the aftermarket parts separately. You'll get a WHOLE lot more money doing it that way.

Here's the problem:

Mod's really don't raise the value of a used guitar. It's a fact of life. To top if off, Agile's really don't have the greatest resale value.

Here are some more realistic prices:

With the mods: $550 shipped (less if it doesn't have a HSC)
Without the mods: $425 shipped (less if it doesn't have a HSC)

did Xzibit come to pimp your agile?

I literally LOL on that one.

Dre...the upper model Agiles are great guitars bro. But they just don't really hold any value. Just like a new car, you lost a fair of money off of it as soon as you took it out of the box. Same goes for all the mods you put on it. Once they came out of their packaging they became used gear. I'm not trying to haggle w/ you...I'm a lefty and have no interest in this. Just trying to give you some perspective.

Your particular guitar used w/out any mods would go for around $300-$350
Sperzels used $35-$40 depending on color and condition
Duncan set like yours $100ish....on the avg. non sig. line Duncans sell for about $45-$50 a peice.
Tone Pros setup around $60ish depending on the color/condition
You can't really put a price on wiring here cuz there are just too many of us that tinker w/ soldering irons.

Going the high end you're looking at around $600, I'd expect to get more around the $500-$550 range out of it. Which is completely reasonable for an upgraded Korean made guitar.

I wish it wasn't like that, and I'm sure just about everyone here wished the same thing. It's just the way it is.

Alright, I think the guy got our point boys...

Now let the market decide what he'll get for it...;)
