Pimped out Agile Les PAul

Re: Pimped out Agile Les PAul

Thanks for the advice guys. All i wanted to do on this post was get a feel for the pricing and see what options i had. I particularly liked 9finger's post, it provided the criticism i needed with a touch of class, not some righteous statements with negative tone.

Thanks

Dre

Yeah, no kidding. I think folks came down a bit harsh. It's not like he was forcing anyone to pay his asking price. Sheesh...

I love to negotiate and bargain and make offers and counter-offers for stuff. It's fun! Maybe it's my Old World marketpalce background, but that's what makes shopping fun.

Here's how I saw it: if I wanted dre's guitar and thought his price was too high, I'd send him a PRIVATE MESSAGE saying something like: " hey dude, love the axe and mods. How about $XXX shipped?"

And he'd PRIVATE MESSAGE me back saying: "Nice try Wildstar, but you're low-balling me. I'll give it to you for $XXX"

And so on and so forth.

Lighten up! Have fun!

And in addition: I was under the impression that hassling someone about their price was against the Trading Post code of conduct. Yes? No? If you don't like the price, shop elsewhere. If you like the goods but not the price, send a PM.

Cheers

I don't think any of us were necessarily shopping, just letting him know his asking price might not get any bites, and explaining why. However, I'll admit some were more respectful than others.

This has been an interesting thread... I, like a lot of you here, like to mod guitars because I want to play them... not really with the intent of selling them. I had never dreamed of buying a guitar with the idea of "pimping" it and selling it for a profit.

However, having said that, I know there are shops that do exactly that. They will buy guitars from other munufacturers and fix them up with their own touches and sell it for a value-added profit.

I'm wondering, what's the difference here? If Dre does a professional level job of fixing this guitar up - why shouldn't he expect the same return on investment as professional upgrade shops. Maybe he wants to start a customizing business... why not?

I'm not trying to stir things up here... just wondering

Because he's not taking into account the pickups/tuners/etc. are considered used at this point as is the guitar. You will take a HUGE hit on selling a used Agile compared to a Fender, Gibson, or Hamer. That's just the way it is. I would say it has a used vaule of $500 TOPS.
