Plastic pickup covers

I'm putting together another guitar right now and I have the pickups I want to use in it. The trouble is one is zebra and one is white, now this won't look good in this guitar but I have used these pickups before and like the way they sound and don't really want to trade them for ones of the right color.

I have a set of plastic pickup covers that someone gave me (the make the pickup look like an EMG). I've never tried them but was thinking they might bethe answer to this problem. My question is will these change the sound/tone of the pickups much? Also with these how does one fasten them down to the pickup?
Thanks

Re: Plastic pickup covers

Usually they just fit over the pickups and don't really need to fastened. I've used a bit of double sided tape to hold on looser ones.

The plastic won't affect your tone at all, but it could require the pickups to be a bit further away from the strings which could cause a slight change.

Re: Plastic pickup covers

Well I had thought about getting a couple of nickel covers and I had these around. The guitar is Jackson Rhoads Rx10d so I figured the emg look might be more appropriate for the guitar.
