Plastic sheet on Livewires

Hey everyone. I just bought an NOS ESP LTD Axxion yesterday ! So happy with the guitar. It came in a pretty satisfying condition, absolutely brand spanking new with 13 year old strings ;) So, got that out of the way, new strings, and it's an amazing guitar. Still gotta get used to playing a non V shaped guitar.

While changing the strings, I noticed there's a plastic cover on the Seymour Duncan Dave Mustaine Livewire pickups, however, it's so well covered that it's under the pickup mounting rings and I can't seem to find the edge of it. If needed, I'll take pictures if needed. Is it necessary to remove it or fine with the cover on? I did remove it from my Dean VMNT Fear (same deal, had to kinda take out the pickup of the ring, and it came out easily, unlike the Axxion). Any help would be very welcome.

Thanks!

No harm either way, really. Most people remove them, but the Mustaine LiveWires wear pretty easily

I think of it sort of like the plastic on the pickguard or back plate.
