Played a Gibson Les Paul Yesterday...

It played like butter, and string bending was practically effortless. I played through a 200 dollar VOX with onboard effects.The salesman said he believed that the frets on the LP I was playing had been dressed. I'm gonna get ahold of the guy they had set up that LP because i really agree that he did a thorough job and I will be contacting him upon the purchase of my own LP so he can setup mine. The tone and playability was just amazing and it left me speechless. Perhaps the best guitar I have ever played!!! :32: All I gotta say is WOW. I used to not be much of a Les Paul person but after yesterdays LP experience I have decided I will definately be joining the Gibson LP bandwagon. I love everything about the Gibson LP's I just don't understand why I avoided them for so long and never really gave them a chance until just recently..... :yell: :smack: :dance:

very cool. it's always fun finding a sweet guitar like that.

i used to want to get a les paul, because they've got killer looks, killer playability, and killer tone. i loooove the way they sound. but the only thing stopping me from getting one is how heavy they are. if i had tons of money, i'd have one to record with. but until then, i'm going for the SG standard. killer looks, tone and playability as well, in a lighter, more stage-friendly package.

had a similar moment of revelation...

playing a LP studio plus through a Marshall DSL401 combo. Then I went home and played my Schecter into the line6.
depressed for the rest of the day
My line6 now has to go... it's not really an amp, it's more of a vacuum that sucks all the upper mid out of any guitar, and turns the low e string into a bass drum if you turn the bass up past 5

I don't think I'll ever own a real LP though... I couldn't justify that much money for any real gibson. Almost bought an Agile LP a few weeks ago, but decided my money would be better spent on the Marshall, cheaper than the Paul. the schecter is fine for now.

Yeah, LPs were never my style until I played one either. Weird how that works. The Studio was amazing... looked amazing too.

I've always been a dyed in the wool Gibson man, but my loves were SGs & Vs. It took me about 20 years to get to the point where I thought I needed a LP. They can be problem children, to be certain, but with the right coaxing...

You should have at least a strat and an LP - bare minimum for any aspiring guitarist. Then of course you will need a Tele, a pointy guitar, a semi hollow guitar and then a .......

I hear ya dude, I got a Line 6 Spider and nothings better than an all tube amp tone. I played a Schecter through a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier 3-channel the other day and fell in love with tube tone once again. Nothing compares to real tube tone, NOTHING. :32: There for a while I was considering a Flextone III but now I just can't seem to get past that all tube tone and wanna ditch digital modeling and go with all tube from now on. :wink: hehe

every time i play a Les Paul it pinches my leg a little bit, and everything feels too shiney and pretty to properly rock with.
