Re: please give your comments on this bass

No idea on how that price falls in $ and never played one, but lots of good twists on the old Gibson EB theme- Assuming good workmanship and that it feel and sounds good to you, here's some positive-
34" scale overcomes the biggest weakness with most EBs as it will have more bottom end-
SD pup insures good sound
EQ and slap switch are very useful on any good bass-

Looks like a good stable mate to any SG, but of course it all depends on what it sounds and feels like!

Re: please give your comments on this bass

:omg: damn. That is a NICE twist on the EB design for sure, that thing would sound like a monster. But it all boil's down to how it plays and feels/sounds.

Re: please give your comments on this bass

in U.S dollars, it's roughly $1500.
as far as looks and specs go, it might well be my dream bass.
i'd very much like to test it out in terms of comfort and sound, but i don't think it's quite possible unless i just buy it...
a tad off-topic perhaps but are those pickups suitable for a grunge-ish, trebley kinda sound? thanks very much in advance.

Re: please give your comments on this bass

Again this is hard to predict off of paper, but here is how I would "guestimate" the tone if it was me-

EBs were bright, but much had to do with the short scale-
Body is mahog whihc takes it towords warm side- However classic EBs were not very thick-
Maple neck, this will add snap and some brightness-
Rosewood f board would go back to the warm side
PUP and position-
I think this is considered a well banaced pup and it's more in the middel than towords the bridge-

All of this together, I would expect this to be a very balalnced bass- Not the killer lows of a warwick, not the sparkling snap of a rick- Probably close to a Jbass with lots of versitilty-

Re: please give your comments on this bass

I'd think that this would sound like a warmer Stingray, because of the neck and pickup\pickup placement.

Except for the body that looks KINDA like the EB, it should sound completely different, and play completely different from a Gibson EB.

Re: please give your comments on this bass

Ah that's a very destintive style, but with active EQ I think you have a good chance to get it-
I always wanted an Ovation Magnum for exactly the sound you are talkign about- To me here's the qualities that are necesary-
1. Active EQ, you have to keep the bottom and the snap, but much of the midrange is gone for this sound.
2. Maple neck will probably help with the snap part of the sound
3. Sustain- You need a lot of sustain to support the lows in that sound and not knowing the bass at all, it would be hard to predict-

Have you looked around for reviews on this particiclar model?

Re: please give your comments on this bass

ive wanted that bass for a long time. too bad its not available in the US

Re: please give your comments on this bass

Looks like a nifty bass. The problems with an EB-0/3/4 are that they're short scale mahogany basses. My short scale EB-0 is neck heavy. The EB-0Ls and 3Ls I've played were excessively neck heavy. Mahogany is not a good wood for basses, at least if you're looking for a P/J type sound. The maple neck and active electronics should help a lot. I'm not sure how nice the 1.575" nut will feel- if it'll be noticably bigger than a 1.5" nut.

If you can, play it first!

Re: please give your comments on this bass

i also want it very much, lol.
but i'm also a bit sus about the mahogany wood, i'm worried it might make the bass a bit too warm for my liking.
if only the body was in white ash, the fretboard in ebony, and it was packed with nice SJB 1b and 1n pickups, i'd buy it straight away...
problem is i've looked at this for a long time but it's not available for me to try out personally, so i'd be a blind buyer really.
and no, i haven't been able to find any user reviews on it so far...
i know it's kind of hard to predict what it's gonna sound like just with this information on it, but please, if you can help me, do so now! lol. thanks guys.
