ok.........I just got done installing the SH-13 pickup in my Ibanez RG120. IT SOUNDS LIKE CRAP! I did everything on the wiring diagram....... there is a red and a white wire that is left over and I am thinking that might be the problem. Anyone know where the go? it does not show on the diagram.

Re: PLEASE help me..........

I can tell you one thing. if you arent an expert youll have problems at some point. ive been soldering pckups for ages now. I do a simple pickup change last night. everything cut and dreid. everything soldered right and all the right wires put into palce just the way they wrre with the other pickup. result??
theres a friggin hum that just makes me want to friggin commit hari-kari.
heres no reason or rationale explanation why that simple pickup change would produce a grounding hum.
I despise solderiong. Anyone who solders pickups fr a living should be nominated for sainthood.
Im not stupid. I have alot of experiince with pickupchanges, but i detstest soldering and invariably there is a problem .
I try to skirt takeing the guitar to an expert beccause I want to save money. In truth, I wear myself to a frazzle and in at least 50% of the casess, I dont get that totally hum free quite and solid wiring job that a real pro could acomplish.

Re: PLEASE help me..........

yeah.......I got the wires together and that was the problem. It sounds much better now! I noticed though when I hit my distortion on my amp that I get a little feedback when to close to the amp......anyone know if there is something out on the market to prevent that? I cant stand that!!

Re: PLEASE help me..........

post the wiring diagram you used

dimarzios and ibanez stock pickups have different colour codes to duncans!!

same set of colours, doing different things

welcome btw :D

Re: PLEASE help me..........

well........it is showing a red x for some reason! it is the schematis that is 2 humbuckers, 1 tone, 1 volume and 3 way switch....

Re: PLEASE help me..........

make sure you adjust the height while holding your highest fret. i.e 22 or 24 or w.e your highest one is.

Re: PLEASE help me..........

this is the schematic that I went by..........I noticed to that when I hit the high E on say 15th fret it has a little crackle to it. not sure why I adjusted the height of the pickup to specs called for, any suggestions?

The reason the schematic isn't showing is that you try to post it as an image while what you have is a link. You either have to use the [ URL]put-link-here[ /URL] (without the space after the "[") or put "http://www.seymourduncan.com/images/support/schematics/2h_1v_1t_3w.jpg" in the [IΜG]put-image-here[/IΜG]...

Yeah, when you're too close to the amp you get feedback, that's to be expected. Just reposition yourself differently (further away and/or at an other angle) and it'll go away...
