hi:i have a epiphone galaxy 10 amp and the thing sounds great, but it dosen't have the sustain i need.is there a stomp box that will help this?when i use my friends amp i get tons of sustain, but his is solid state thanks for help

Re: please help

The amp doesn't add sustain, it comes from the guitar. You can try using a compressor, or adding more gain ...

Re: please help

i have the gain on my amp peged.would a boss super overdrive help?or a big muff pi distortion/sustain pedel? thanks for help

Re: please help

Nah, an OD will only add noise and won't necessarily add sustain.
It also depends on what kind of guitar you are using. Can I have some more details?

Re: please help

i have a epiphone les paul classic with stock pups. the amp is a epi.galaxy 10 tube/class a.when i use this guitar on my cousins yorkville solid state i get tons of sustain.I trying to learn the side part of freebird, but my amp doesn't have the sustain for that.i think the amp needs more gain, but it doesn't have it,would a effects pedal solve my problem or do i need another amp

Re: please help

A TS-9 adds compression as it adds overdrive, which would help with you're sustain. You could also check out a Boss SD-1. Using either of these pedals to overdrive you're amp will boost the gain and help with sustain.

A Big Muff has a ton of sustain, but I doubt it's the distortion sound you're looking for it you're playing alot of Skynyrd type stuff.

Re: please help

I would make sure your guitar is properly set up. As others have mentioned, sustain comes from the guitar, not from the amp, pickup, or pedal.

Re: please help

I'd like to point out that his guitar gets good sustain on other amps, which would tend to indicate that the problem isn't originating from the guitar.

So suggesting solutions that involve the guitar probably won't help.

Get a good sustaining type overdrive pedal, or a different amp.
