Please Listen!!!!

Re: Please Listen!!!!

i really like the heavy groove of the music, but the hetfield-ness of the vocals really turned me off

Re: Please Listen!!!!

i didnt mean it the way it came off from my first post, the vocals are not bad, just not that exciting since it sounds too much like hetfield...... but as far as the music, it sounds really good, good clarity and heavy groove

Re: Please Listen!!!!

thanks man, i understood what you meant.. i know my vocals are very hetfield...especially in "Take Me Now"...i feel like i have found my voice and it definitly separates me from all the other bands around here..it's either squeeks/whining or all out screaming...im just really pleased with the way it came out, i am quite proud of it

Re: Please Listen!!!!

Alright, you guys have gotten a lot better. I think one guitar has a nice metal tone but the other isn't quite up to par. It sounds like a solid state combo or something. On Traits of a Madman the guitar I am not wild about is on the left side of the mix. I am not talking about the leads.. I am talking about the rhythm guitars. On House of Hell the guitars both sounds pretty good. All of the leads are pretty darn good. You guys obviously spent some time on them. The drummer is pretty hot.. great drumming on everything. One problem with the vocals is they are too damn dry. I'd hit them with some studio reverb and maybe some processor (I sometimes use RBC Audio Tweaker Pro) and bring them to life a bit. Personally, I'd hit the entire mix with a BBE Sonic Maximizer (Lo Contour between 4 and 6 and Process about 5 or 6) which will make everything blend together a little better. Overall, big thumbs up. The song writing is really good.

PM if you have any questions and I'll try to help you out.

Re: Please Listen!!!!

My guitar is the right ear the whole time..theats a EMG loaded ESP EX400 through a Peavey XXL...the left ear is a EMG loaded RR-3 through a Boss MT-2...so yeah it's a big difference, but he said he liked his sound and he would rather jsut send his pedal through my clean channel then set my amp to a setting he liked...funny thing is my amp is still a solid state amp lol..i really dont know what you mean about the sonic maximizer...all i know is that we recorded into a 10 or 12 track digital recorder and he said all he couldn't do was master the entire thing so it might sound a little low...we tried adding some reverb to the vocals but it made it sound like i was singing in a cave so we decided to tame it down a bit..we still have to do a final mix so we'll play around with it next week

Re: Please Listen!!!!

Great stuff man! The songwriting and guitar work is awesome.

My only complaints have already been mentioned by RGN - the vocals are way too dry and the guitar tone on the left speaker doesn't sound all that nice. Also, some of the clean parts weren't played very cleanly and sounded kinda buzzy.

Leads were excellent.

Re: Please Listen!!!!

the buzzy clean parts are due to the fact that we are trying to play clean w/ EMG 81 pickups...the buzzier one being the bridge cause it's so powerful...

Re: Please Listen!!!!

i love that riff in the begining for traits of a madman. the galloping sound. c ool as hell. youre a good player.

Re: Please Listen!!!!

Very cool, I like "Take Me Now". You guys know how to make catchy rhythms!

Re: Please Listen!!!!

thanks..thats one one of my favorites..and it's not just because i wrote it lol but it's easily the most repedative song we have but thats alright, i still like it

i sing in all the songs except "Traits of a Madman" the Crunch in Take Me Now...is both...the left ear is a Jackson RR3 w/ EMG81 bridge pu -> Boss MT-2 -> Peavey XXL Clean Channel. the right ear is a ESP LTD EX400BD w/ EMG 81's into the Peavey XXL...both are recorded through a RODE condenser mic..idk what particular one. i guess most of the crunch is on the right ear which is me..and thats just my SS Peavey XXL head and Peavey XXL 4x12 cab
