Please recommend a delay pedal I can put BEFORE a distorted tube amp

I have Boss DD-5 Digital Delay that sounds like crap in front (before) my overdriven Orange Tiny Terror amp. The repeats are rather harsh and substantially less overdriven than the original signal. The amp does NOT have an FX loop, so I'm stuck having to find a delay pedal that will sound good in front of the amp. Any recommendations?

I got the sib mr echo plus because my boss me50 delay sounded horrible like you said. It is a great improvement but still not sure if it is perfect, but definately check out the pedal if you can. I will say it is one of the better delays under $200.

unsure if there is one that meets your needs. if you gig, have em add it on the board, and use a monitor.

I was actaully using a Boss DM-3 just today in front of the loop. Those are getting crazy expensive lately, but I think something that has that "analog" sound to it might work. I don't like the Echo Park in the loop, but maybe the DE7 would work well?

I use a pair of Rocktron Short Timers in front of my Marshall. They're digital, but voiced like vintage analog units. They work pretty well and they're dirt cheap.

+1 on the Short Timers, Rich recommended me one when I posed this question and it is working out great!

I always want my tone distorted, and then reverbed or delayed. That's how sounds occur in nature. So running a dellay pedal into a distorted amp, and having the echoes distorted--yep, gonna sound like crap.

Solution? Distortion----> Delay-----> CLEAN amp.

Probably not what you want to hear from me, but that's the way to do it.

you have the option of using a distortion or overdrive pedal and running that before your delay on the clean/breaking up amp?

even if it's just for one song - but no fart-arsing around with the sound desk involved ;)
