Please recommend a good chorus pedal.

I'm in the market for a new chorus pedal. Any suggestions? Also, I noticed that Boss makes 2 different chours pedals; what's the difference?

Re: Please recommend a good chorus pedal.

Old Boss CE-2 the babyblue old one, Ibanez CS-9, Ibanez RC-99, Arion Chorus(the old grey one) Then ther is the more subdued ones, TC Chorus/Flanger and the the Fulltone Choral TC clone, but both are kinda dull sounding to me, all too transperant and subtle.

Re: Please recommend a good chorus pedal.

I've yet to hear a better sounding chorus pedal than the old BOSS CE-2. They just sounded good!

Re: Please recommend a good chorus pedal.

you should look at the Boss pedals, the super chorus or the chorus ensemble, forgot how to spell it... but they are quite good and remember that there are more expensive pedals than those...

Re: Please recommend a good chorus pedal.

this is weird ok? but stay with me on this. We used to tink with all kinds of stuff when I worked at the guitar store and what we found by accident is that the Dunlop Rotovibe Pedal is one of the coolest sounding pedals there is. It sounds good on both dirty and clean. its weird but just try it. Depending on your amp your useing this pedal can have a realy cool vibe. You use it like a chorus pedal or .....like a RotoVibe pedal. Ive seen it slowly move into more and more guitarists pedal boards over the years.

i own a boss super chorus which im pleased with. its a good pedal. if im not mistaken i think the chorus ensemble is more expensive. but i dont know why.

Re: Please recommend a good chorus pedal.

i have a CE-2B... great as a chorus for both guitar and bass, i just dont use the effect as a whole very often..

the CH1 sounds fine though, one of my mates has it...

Re: Please recommend a good chorus pedal.

Check out the Analog Man Clone Chorus (as well as the oft hyped-up reviews on Harmony Central).

It's a chorus that can be sweet, subtle, lush or seasick; it's full of versitility. Oh, and it's true-bypass as well.

Re: Please recommend a good chorus pedal.

I've been pleased with the Ibanez CS-9.

I also have an old Washburn analog delay which is great.

I don't like digital delay.

Re: Please recommend a good chorus pedal.

I've had several chorus pedals. The Maxon CS-9pro is a great sounding pedal, a cut way above the generics. It has true bypass also. It's small, and comes with a power supply.

Boss CH1
Boss CE2

I have both of these and I really prefer the CE2, but the CH1 is really nice. Shop around for a used one you can probably get the CH1 for around 30 to 40$.

Re: Please recommend a good chorus pedal.

I've always been a Boss CE-2 man. THAT is the clasic chorus sound. In my recent search for an affordable chorus, I discovered:

1) CE-2's have attained collectors status and their prices are rising. Not ridiculous, but ~$80 for a 20-year-old pedal.

2) CE-3's have not attained collectors status, and so are cheaper.

3) CE-3's sound just like CE-2's, they just have the added stereo mode switch, which makes no difference in a mono guitar rig. (2018 update: I just bought an MIJ CE-3 and A/Bed it against my CE-2. They don't sound the same. The CE-2 has a "push" in the mids that adds to the jangle, but the CE-3 doesn't. It's a thinner sounding chorus. The CE-3 can be used as a vibrato, though, with its switch in Mode II. It's a cool sound on its own, but not the same as a CE-2.)

I think I paid $35 for a CE-3 on eBay, and I love it. It's everything I remember my CE-2's sounding like back in the chorus heyday of the '80s.

i'm eager to try the dunlop rotovibe. vibrato and chorus in a wah-type shell. I seem to prefer 'real time' pedals like this. Maybe a little off topic but has anyone seen the new MXR phase pedal that is essentially a wah-like phase 90?
