Please recoomend a good, LIGHT hard case for Jazz bass

I just got one of the nice Fender USA Jazz Bass cases. It is built like a tank and will probably last forever my only beef is that it is too.ducking.heavy. Seriously, it weighs more than twice what my baseball bat ash J-bass weighs.

Can anyone recommend a good LIGHT hard case that will fit a Fender Jazz? MF and GCs website has lots of stuff branded as light weght, but they dont tell you the weight on the specs!!! Hopefully you guys can help!

Say what?

The current plastic Fender cases with the oversized security catches weigh very little. Are you sure that there is nothing stashed in the lining? :naughty:

Yeah, those extra kilos tucked under the rim may be an issue :lol:


Seriously, though, the only case I've ever encountered that weighed more than the guitar is a custom G&G. It's 5 feet tall and 3 feet wide, and feels like solid wood.

Most plastic-outside cases weigh like a loaf of bread at most. However, it's possible you've got a really, really lightweight Ash bass.

Its the heavy wood g and g case. Iso the plastic ones are light? Do thet hold up ok?

I do not find the G & G tweed or tolex covered cases particularly heavy either. Even with the Custom Shop or American Vintage Re-Issue case candy, the weight is fine. Things only get heavy with an ash-bodied Seventies style re-issue guitar inside.

Against the G & G cases, I would argue that they offer less physical and environmental protection that the ABS 'n' aluminium types. (Check for ATA approval.)

I use the Roadrunner soft case
It's a large square cornered rigid foam case
Weighs nothing
