I always check whats out there by seaching 'plexi' in items and descriptions on Ebay. It's interesting to see what pops up.
One amp that is killer is the Fargen Mighty Plex.

I would go vintage non master for that vibe. 60s and 70s Bassmasters are spectacular. 400 or so these days. Those are the easiest to find ( I got 4 of em lol) . I would jump on a Stramp if you can find one. A Laney Klipp is a less spendy option. Dime it w/o the KLIPP engaged and it should be just about there. If you really search the net beyond ebay, you should be able to find one for 400-500. The Supergroup does occasionally pop up, usually sells for under a grand. I would love to have one, but I have not jumped yet.

Dude how would you say KLIPP is different vs. SuperGroup, would you say KLIPP distortion is the first HighGain preamp ? so over all, would you get more crunch earlier on a KLIPP ???

I have only played a Supergroup, so my hands on with the Klipp does not exist. The Klipp when engaged seems to be a love hate thing, a buzzy roar that can be harsh esp when done at lower volumes. The SG is a huge, beautiful beast. Similiar to a Plexi but with more in the lower mids, to my ears the 'jump' on the note was just a bit slower.In many ways, my Traynor MK II Bassmaster reminds me a good deal of it. The Hammond, like Partridge transformers seem to have just a bit more open character to them.
