Pocket POD or used POD2, POD-XT etc…

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
Pocket POD or used POD2, POD-XT etc…

So I'm looking for something for some headphone bedroom jamming.

I was kinda digging the Pocket Pod - but I see used full-size PODS on the bay. What say you?

Anyone got a pocket POD???

Look into the Korg Pandora PX5D. Recently discontinued but you can still find them (I got mine from Ebay).

I just got mine, I only really wanted it for a few sounds as a headphone amp so i can play my mini-Strat at the river, but it does so much more, including USB out for recording. A very powerful, feature-packed little device, I haven't even scratched the surface of what it can do yet.

I just sold my POD 2.0 ...worked great for years as a headphone jobby

I had the POD 2.0 as well, great for headphone jams and even used it live quite a bit.

A typically cheaper option that I really like is the Behringer V-Amp, really like the sounds of the V-Amp.

I have a POD X3, I bought it for practice with backing tracks and recording using a computer and solo practice with headphones. It worked pretty good for that purpose, but now my needs are different.

On the X3 using input 2 as an aux in is challenging (it's XLR), so I basically need some sort of mixer or computer to practice with headphones. Also, even though it has a million models, they all sound very similar. I do like having all the bass models though.

If I were buying today for practice, I'd get the Pocket POD. Easy aux in and headphone out, enough models to do what you need and cheaper/smaller than the other models. I have no experience with the V-Amp though...

I had a Pocket Pod and a PodXt, both worked well for headphone playing, although the better the headphones, the better you'll sound. You get a lot less bass on cheaper headphones. You can pick either of these things really cheap.

I have a Pocket POD that I use for headphones. You can connect it to a computer via USB and edit on a level completely different from what's available on the unit itself.

I've been using my V-Amp and actually liking it quite a lot. I'm getting pedals for the distortion/overdrive sounds, but really that's just me experimenting. I play my V-Amp into headphones all the time, and also through my (hopefully soon to be upgraded) Fender ss practice amp. Even through my neighbour's tube amp on clean, the V-Amp puts out some good noises. Even has a foot pedal.

Never tried the pocket pods, so I can't help you there, sorry.

I'd buy off the Bay either way. I just think that a full size *might* be nice to have vs the pocket.

eBay is where I bought my PODs and V-Amps, good avenue with a variety available.

I currently have rack mounts for both (Pro versions) so I definitely agree on full size over the pocket.

I like the Pandora because of the built in drum loops in addition to the aux in. The Digitech RP360 has both also.

I like the portability of the Pocket POD. Runs on batteries (or a 9V DC input), tiny, has a belt clip. Lets me use headphones wherever I want without dragging a bunch of stuff around.

I keep thinking that about the Pocket POD or the Pandora "Hey - I can carry it around!"

I think the reality is I would stick it on a table near the bed and it would never move, and I wouldn't plug a Pandora into a 4x12 ever….

POD + Powerblock + 4x12 = some @$$kicking…

I haven't used Ebay in about 10 years. Just asking for future reference... do you need a Paypal account to make purchases on there?

I use Paypal. I guess there are other ways. Never had a bad experience.

The fullsize pod is way more versatile than the pocket pod. I had one for bedroom jamming for several years, it was nice to be able to download patches and make my own.
I have a Zoom G2nu now and it works very well, I am getting ready to upgrade again as that one is also several years old.
All the Zoom stuff works well and is a really good value..

The old guitarist from the Velcro Pygmies Delicious used a pod straight into a PA quite often and his live tone was quite delicious..
I talked to him one night and said, that don't sound like a Mesa Recto? He told me what he was running and blew my mind..

Modeling technology has really progressed way past PODs, but for practice, it would be great. You notice more in the feel of the amp models, rather than the sound itself.
