POD XT Live

Anyone here have one? What do you think of it?

I'm thinking about checking this out. I was going to check out the XT but for $100 more you get the floorboard. Basically I'm looking for something that I can plug some headphones into and jam at home. This seems to be alot more reasonable than the guitar rig 2 (which I asked about last week), since I wouldn't need to have it connected to my PC all the time, but there's still the option there if I want to record. I've heard that some of the effects are not that great (just what I heard), but I'm looking at it more for the amp models than the effects.

I bought one a little over a month ago and I love it. I may still be on the honeymoon run with it though and not yet seeing it's flaws though.
It's get plenty of solid usable tones, and you can build your own.
I use mine for bedroom practice, for playing live, and recording and it does all of them just fine.

I haven't had any problems with the FX. I don't use FX a lot though, so for what I use it is fine.

Hope I helped.

Cool, thanks! What software do you use to record with? I hear it comes with recording software too?

I think Line6 has some recording software, but I don't have it. I can tell you the name of the software I used after lunch. A friend of mine has all that stuff and we record there. I don't know what it is called.

It made a decent recording though.

Re: POD XT Live

I have the POD XT which has most of the effects the XTL does, and I think they're the best part of the unit. Even if you only use it for effects (no amp and cab models) it's still well worth the money. Reverbs and delays in particular are excellent.

Re: POD XT Live

Cool, thanks!

Anyone download the bass amp models for this as well? Is it worth it?

They're decent, but not great. For a hundred bucks and getting to use the same housing it's a decent deal but certainly not something I would consider my #1 any time soon.

But it sure does beat the back pain inherent when I get the Jones for a 6 x 10.

Reverbs and delays would probably be the main effects I would use. Thanks!

Yeah, I like the idea of being able to download them to the same pedal. Beats having to go out and buy something just for bass. Thanks!

Re: POD XT Live

i like the gt8 better, but roland is a bit tweakier than the line6.

Re: POD XT Live

I have it. I love it.

The POD is VERY easy to program. It comes with several bass settings, although you might want more.

The xt Live is well worth the extra $100 IMHO. If you get the bean, and later decide you need a floorboard unit, it will cost twice that.

All in all, I think it's a great unit.

The downside is that for fifty bucks more you can get a bass POD used and have a whole lot more at your disposal.

Honestly, for the hundred bucks, I would say look into the Behringer V-Amp Bass Pro. If you're using a PC and can manage the unit that way it's a much better pick. Behringer dropped the ball in a major way on the Mac side, which is why I ended up unloading mine.

I'll check the GT8 out too. Isn't more $$$?

Cool, glad to hear you like it. I was originally looking at the bean, but i thought i might want to change effects, amps, etc. Also, I found MF has b-stock xt live's for the same price as the bean model. I might take a shot, who knows, I still need to sell some stuff first.

I was looking at the Behringer v-amp for bass. I'm not too concerned at the moment about bass, but if I see that I'll definately check it out. Thanks!

Re: POD XT Live

Sounds like you're really looking for something like the Floor Pod rather than the XTL.
I checked out the link. I'll have to check it out when I look at the XTL as well. The floorpod doesn't have a usb connection but it says you can record with it. I'm guessing send the output into a preamp or soundcard?
