Pod XTlive amp model Problems

Hey Guys
I just today recieved a Pod XT Live, I bought it used but is still only about 3-4 months old i think, I've downloaded the firmware updates etc for it but I still have a problem using some of the Amp Models( Class A-15 , Class A-30 TB,Plexi 45, Tweed B-Man, Tiny Tweed, Match D-30)
when I play a note(particularly most notes higher than the 2nd octave of E on a standard tuned guitar) there is another note present, for instance, when i play a Db theres an F,slightly lower in volume present too.I've tried playing and quickly switching from one amp to the Vox then back, and as soon as the Vox amp model comes on the note is present and as soon as ANY of the other amp models are selected the note is no longer present.

Anyone ever experience something like this??
Cheers

Re: Pod XTlive amp model Problems

Hm. You might need to reset it to the factory presets, then update again.

I couldn't use mine without the Vox patches. Or anything else you mentioned except the Plexi.

Re: Pod XTlive amp model Problems

Apparently its meant to happen. Some amps supposedly make this ghost note in real life.

Happens on my podxt too (on the bassman model i've noticed it the most), just use a diffferent model if it bugs ya

Re: Pod XTlive amp model Problems

Never experienced that - make sure the stomp is turned off, you might have the bender or pitch shift on it turned on but mixed low.

i can assure You i've tried every "silly" possibility :laugh2:

And I can also assure you the Vox AC 30 I played didn't have any ghost notes whatsoever,

Les, i'll try restoring everything to factory presets see if that makes a difference in the morning. I emailed Line6 about the problem so hopefully they will have a resolution to this!

Re: Pod XTlive amp model Problems

It's intentional. Underfiltered amps do that, and AC30s in the original configuration do it almost automatically.

IMO it's something they could have left out of the models, but it is prevalent in the Voxes, the JTM 45, and the Super Bass.

I've never noticed the ghost notes...except when pitch modulation is used.

?? thats the first time i've ever heard anything remotely like that.
Now I've only played 2 Vox Ac30, one was a pretty much original one from some era of the 60's and the other one of the reissues, Though mabye some earlier amps mite have had some ghost notes but i seriously they respond the way they do on the XTL, For each different note I play theres another ghost note, of different relation to the other note (e.g. I play Db in the 2nd octave of the guitar and it plays and F (M3rd) ) I play an E 3rd OCt it plays a Dim5th etc etc , but an on pitch M3rd and Dim 5th..

+ none of this is happening on Lestrat's...

in conclusion,

I'm confused

Re: Pod XTlive amp model Problems

Then LesStrat isn't setting his up the same way. If you use a lot of drive, it'll ghost. Try the "Cliffs of Dover" patch, it does it a lot. I do agree that Line 6 went overboard with it, most real amps don't react the same way the sims do. With a real AC30/JTM 45/etc. you have to turn it way up, and it usually is worst on the neck pickup and notes at or around the 12th fret.

I've owned four AC30s and over a dozen nonmaster Marshalls. If they're set up with 'vintage' filtering, they'll ghost when you crank them. If you play one that doesn't, it has likely had extra filtering added (very common on AC30s).

If you don't believe me, try asking the same question on an amp board - say, the Weber BB, or the amp technical section at the Gear Page.

Really?

Thats madness, Never heard about any of that before.I am not using that much gain for those amps,But I am however running it through my PA at probobly near gig volume for guitar,So I get to hear all the little nuances in every amp & effect.
The only amp models that seem to do a Crunch sound to my taste are the Voxs, and it seems to be most present inthe AC 30 model. The Lead and rhythm sounds great with the vox model, but for lead work around the (easiest way to put it) good old Am pentatonic "area" really provokes the ghost notes, Especially as I am boosting it with the "Tube Driver" stompbox so alot of runs in one of the doors songs we do sounds like i'm hitting a load of bum notes.

Damn You Line 6!!!!!!!!!!!!

All in all though I have to say I'm pretty happy with it, I'm getting VERY usable XTL->PA for gigs tones from it so I think one of our next gigs may have me playing direct to Desk.

Re: Pod XTlive amp model Problems

I did not say it was impossible. Just that I have not experienced it. But I don't use that much drive on most channels. I use the Tube Driver stomp patch to "push" the amp model.

Sounds like we have the same taste in tones.
