Pods & pedals....do they get along???

Just wondering. I've got a Bass Pod for recording...um, bass. However, it models lotsa great amps that people used for guitar. If I used my Plexitone or Vox Bulldog in front of the Bass Pod, would it hurt the Pod? I know the Vetta can handle pedals but I just want to make sure before I fry a $300 preamp or $200 pedal, lol. I'd like to see if if would sound any good to record with late at night or what have you. :smokin:

Thanks guys.

the only experience i had was a ts9 in front of my pod 2.0. the tone was great, but i got no volume boost from the ts9. that was my only complaint, as i bought the ts9 for solo boosts.

Not really.

Generally the POD's HATE pedals & sound like poo with them but it ain't gonna blow anything up.

FWIW I've had tremendous luck recording bass with a SansAmp & a good DI box...used either on it's own or in conjunction with a "clean" DI.

I put the Pod through a Groove Tubes Brick and the difference is like night and day. Without the Brick it sounds pretty sterile. I wanted to do this using guitar though. The Bass Pod models a Marshall bass plexi and I think a Bassman and a few other amps. Cool. I can accept it sounding like crud, just didn't wanna blow anything up.

Thanks fellas. I REALLY appreaciate it.

My POD reacts just like my real amps with a TS infront of it, but I don't use it for the conventional use, and I just use the built in pedals, anyways.

i like your setup, the pod thru the gt brick. i have to try that someday. i heard it does really improve things.

Yeah, it really does! I use Sonar and a Tascam firewire interface. Straight to the interface the Bass Pod sounds okay but through the Brick I can't tell that it's not a real amp that's been miked.

Well, the Plexitone didn't agree with the Pod. Not to my ears anyway. I used all the Marshall and the 59 Bassman patches and it just didn't hook up. The Vox Bulldog however did agree with the Tweed Bassman patch--the only one that sounded good--and I got a VERY convincing guitar sound from it. It was nice because the family could watch TV without me cranking up and amp.
