Yes, it makes a difference. 2 of the settings on my pedal will only ring out the the base E & A strings and the D if it's struck hard. The strings following, (where the misalignment becomes pronounced), produce no sound. That demonstrates to me that there are consequences to not being straight on. My concern over this raised recently with my first attempt at pick up switching. Once the guitar was reassembled, I noticed the issue. I started playing it and was so impressed with the difference in the sound, character and capabilities of my ax, forgot all about whatever it was that concerned me. Oh, and it's a Jeff Beck Humbucker and it's something that has made a vast improvement to my guitar. And the string alignment thing...it makes NO difference. At least not to someone like me who has a certain amount of hearing loss. and I never play using either of those 2 settings any way.
