Polishing nirto in a pinch

I really need to clean my SG, but I wasn't able to make it the the music shop AGAIN tonight. What have you guys used to polish your nitro finishes?

In a pinch EndDust works O.K. It dosen't leave a waxy residew like
other furnature polish like pledge. If you can make it to the Auto store?
Merigugue (Spelling?) or 3M stuff works great.

I would highly recommend NOT using any type of dusting product on a nitro finish. Soft cotton cloth, breath on the finish like you'd be cleaning off glasses.

I like the old Martin polish, but I've been using the Gibson stuff as well.

I just used a really old can of furniture polish. It shot out of the can in thick globs. It seems to have worked great. I just needed it for tonight, I'll be getting some proper polish tomorow. That Gibson polish smells like heaven!

i use dunlop 65 it came witha polishing rag. its good stuff. not mad expensive like that meguiars or whatever either. the gibson one is nice. i used to use windex on my old guitars LOL im sure that wasnt a good idea.

In a pinch: brath and a flannel cloth..

I would NEVER touch a nitro finish with a product not specifically formulated for use on Nitro (´cept breqath and the cloth), especially furniture polish... most furniture polish has silicone in it, as well as some interesting solvents in some..... there are mistakes you don´t make twice

OOP's Let me spin doctor my 1st post. :smack: EnDust contains NO Wax
and No Silicone. I'm not suggesting it's the best thing for a Nitro Finish. :blackeye: But the Question was `In a pinch'. Silicone will not
nessaserally Harm a Nitro finish But Contamanate it. It will make any
future spot repairs difficult if not Imposable ! You guy's are 100% RIGHT!
furniture wax belongs on your counter top NOT YOUR NITRO AXE ! I
just wanna be sure I'm not misunderstood. Getting back to ENDUST
Althought the can says `Contains No wax and No Silicone' They don't
say what exactly it is in the can? So there could be some nasties?
But I use to use it on my Les Paul (In a pinch) and can't think of any
problems it might have caused? :saeek:
