Popped some JJ EL34s in the Rectoverb...

All I have to say is WOW! I was weary about replacing the Russian 6L6s since I'm used to Fender amps and that deep bassy headroomy sound. I was worried I wouldn't get that Deluxe/Reverb cleanliness out of the Mesa anymore, but I popped in some JJ EL34s yesterday, flipped the bias switch, and voila! Cleans are more responsive, actually everything is more responsive, and it sounds like a guitar amp now rather than an uncharacteristically clean amplifier. She has gotten a little less versatile but no complaints whatsoever.

Now I question why anyone would get a Marshall even moreso than I had before.

Rectifier + EL34s = :naughty: tone heaven

el34's are good stuff but i gotta mention that most russian 6l6's that ive tried are pretty lame sounding tubes. some of the preamp tubes have been good but ive never been happy with any 6l6's.
