Portable Digital Multitrack Recorder?

Monday is Fatty Woo's (my little brother) birthday and I want to get him some kind of all-in-one, simple to use multitrack recorder. The poor kid's got no amp and is always either borrowing my amps or messing around with my TonePort, but it seems like he loses interest kinda fast because he'll go back to playing his electrics unplugged pretty quick. I think he just doesn't feel like spending the time to tweak settings and whatnot (usually asks me to tweak stuff for him).

Well, I was wondering if you guys know of any cheap lil' portable recorders that have all the amp sims and whatnot onboard, and maybe like 4 tracks (additional virtual tracks would be really nice!). He's not very picky with tone, he mainly just wants to play. I think that if he has a magic guitar box to call his own, he'll get pretty serious about recording so he can whore out his recordings on MySpace  He's getting to be a pretty good guitar player and I think something like this will help release some of his creativity because of the privacy he'll be able to record in. His style is in the line of classic jazz standards and Gilbert/Friedman/Becker (weird mix, I know). I would bet he'll mainly be playing with distortion though.

Big thanks!

Oh crap, there's a thread from like a day or two ago about the Pocket POD where somebody mentions a BOSS product that does everything you want and more. It's only about $220 but I can't remember the name of it for the life of me. if i find it i'll post it here.

Yep, I was the one who recommended the Boss Micro BR.

A very fun and creative tool and its loaded with features. I used to have one of the Tascam CD guitar trainers and this blows it away completely. Its alot easier to use and understand. And it fits in your pocket or guitar case too!

I'm constantly finding new things I can do with it. Today I realized that there is this feature that will cancel out the vocal and the guitar. All you hear is the rthym track so you can jam along with the music. Its pretty cool if you wanna practice your vocal along with your playing. You still have the "band" backing you. You can also slow down the playback speed in this mode too, for learning fills and solos and stuff.

I think I might actually put off getting another guitar so that I can get one of these things. That's gonna bum out another forum bro but it seems like this little device is gonna do more for my playing than any new axe could.
