Got an old Fender Roc Pro 700 here which I've been wondering what to do with. The main problem is that the amp is simply unusable indoors because the volume control lacks any sensitivity, to the point where setting a good practice volume on the gain channel takes both hands to keep the volume knob at 1.2, where 1.3 will kill all the pets in my apartment building. Clean side is almost as bad. As it happens, Fender was nice enough to bundle in the full schematic diagram with the amp. The clean vol turns out to be a 50Kohm B taper, and the gain vol is 100K B taper. I'm assuming that Fender being an American company means the B taper is in fact linear.
So, first question, is that assumption correct? If so, can I swap them for the same spec audio taper pots and get better control over the volume? Or would it be better still to substitute higher resistance pots?
