I am seriously considering a new guitar. But I want to build it. Here's what I have dreamed up so far, what do you guys think?

Re: Possible offset project

...how'd I miss this :D

purdy :smokin:

(but it's labeled Jag project. That's a Jazzy :D)

...personally I wouldn't put a TOM on a Jag/Jazz trem. Unless you never want to use the trem.

looks neat though.

Re: Possible offset project

i'd just get a toronado

If you can find one...

Or a cyclone... but you hav to look for one in a mom in pop store... I know for a fact the last one in Fender's storage has left the building and is taking a wee trans-atlantic trip.

Re: Possible offset project

I'm not particularly fond of the guard (for once).

But it's not always about me :D

Looks cool.

Re: Possible offset project

A toronado would be Gibson scale, (as opposed to 25.5 for a JM or 24" for a Jag), not have a trem, and not look anywhere near as good :D

Re: Possible offset project

I made some minor modifications. Namely the pickgaurd. IMO it looks much better.

Try this out for size.

BTW LSP, the Cyclone and Tornados aren't the same as a Jazzy

Re: Possible offset project

I didn't notice I changed the knobs.

Here's a slightly edited version, with your knobs

Re: Possible offset project

You just said offset and show a pic, I took it from there eheh.

I'll say this. Much better than those you had a couple of days back (black and blue)

Put a black guard on it and it would be hellasweet.

Re: Possible offset project

I like, I think gold hardware and gold pickup covers would look pimp on that, what with all the red and tortoise shell.

Re: Possible offset project

I suggest a black pearl pickguard, and second the gold idea, but only if it was kind of old and nasty looking.

Re: Possible offset project

Thanks for the suggestions. I will have a Mk. 2 version of it up some time today. Cream, I like it with the white gaurd.

EDIT: Dangly, I know its a JM, I was rushing when I saved it.

Re: Possible offset project

...I like it best with tort personally :D

though I think it would look best in CAR. transparent finishes are too gibson for me

Re: Possible offset project

Yeah, I think I am going to end up with a solid colour, not a see-thru. Feel free to post any ideas you guys might have. If its a Jazzmaster with humbuckers, I am interested.

Re: Possible offset project

Here it is, much better than my first design. As you can see, I havent really picked a colour. I am just trying to lay the ground work.

EDIT: By the way, whats the tone of the WR's like? I play um...... Well heres some influences: Boris, The Melvins, Pelican. Baroness. Stuff in more of the Boris(think Amplifier Worship) way. Lots of fuzz in other words. Guess you could call it sludge :laugh2:

Re: Possible offset project

...I've never actually played wide ranges either :laugh2:

I think that one looks better than either of sonic youth's

David Scott Stone (part time guitarist for the Melvins) used a Jag with stock single coils... and I can get a very heavy, meaty, stinging tone from mine that way. Just something to think about ;)
