Post your unplugged guitar clips.

I know this the pickup forum and basically all clips are with amps. I wondering how all of your guys guitars sound unplugged. We could do this to help people decide if a guitar is good or bad tonally at stores, with clips to give comparison knowing the difference between bad and good wood. This is your chance guys to show off the natural tones your guitars on their own.

i wish i could record my telecaster. It has a loud and resonant natural tone that i haven't heard in a lot of other guitars

Not a bad idea though it can be tricky to tell good or bad from a mic'd up unplugged electric. Still, I've been thinking of recording my frankenstrat unplugged since it has such a loud acoustic sound, louder than my other electrics.

I've been in the process of editting & mixing my new tune, in which i used my '57 ES-175 acoustically. I'm really digging the tones i got.

yeah it might be hard to properly mic an electric acoustically. i dont think i could get all the nuances out of the unplugged sound just with an sm57, not enough coverage IMO. and its relaly not the same as if you play it yourself.

Re: Post your unplugged guitar clips.

I had this vague memory of reading somewhere that Buddy Holly used to mix his amp tone with the sound of a mic pointed directly at his picking hand, so on my latest song I tried something similar in order to allow for a bit more distortion without losing note clarity -- not exactly a Holly-like use, but still. I only did it on one of the three guitar tracks, putting that one in the mddle and panning the mushier ones pretty hard. It worked pretty much just as I had hoped. I'll be posting that song -- "I Hope It Made You Cry" -- in the next few days.

Oh hell, you wouldn't get anywhere near the acoustic tone with a 57. Way too directional.

If you were going to do this, I'd think you'd need a nice condensor, and most of us don't have Neumann's comming out of our asses. :(

Everything I have done on My Myspace or Soundclick is done without amps or moddlers.
