in the meantime i popped the pot open so i can order a replacement.
from the middle of the pot to the side it doesn’t measure half but something like 20k so it’s logarithmic.
makes sense since it’s for volume.
There should be a code stamped on the casing, depending on the manufacturer. That should indicate the taper. Logarithmic isn't necessarily standard for passive volumes, actually. But it might be the spec for that particular circuit and device.
i found that the current “A” is the old “C”?
anyway: on the left/counterclockwise i have a small increase of resistance, on the right/clockwise i have huge increase of resistance. looking at the carbon “circle” from above
now i have to check if was upside down in the pot.
don’t remember:?:
Edit:
there is a difference between us and europe.
your c is our f apparently…
edit2:
i fear it’s indeed the reverse taper like Artie suggested. they are hard to come by.
Thanks ArtieToo!
would have take quite some time for me to figure that out.
Boom!
managed to repair the pot
all needed was a file and some clue to get the shaft back in and keep it there.
brute force ripped it out of there in the first place
