Pot value for JB and Super Distortion single volume

I think I’m going to be replacing some pickups and going back to basics on a couple of guitars. For 25.5” Floyd Rose, single pickup and single volume, is it worth trying a 250K for a JB and for a Super Distortion? (I’m thinking yes definitely on the JB, how about on the Super Distortion?)

Bonus question, where are you getting wire nowadays to wire up guitars? I need a little shielded for the output jack and single conductor for switches/pots.

It is always worth trying 250k pots with a JB, as I think that is what Seymour uses. Plus, it is cheap to try. As far as wire, I just get it at Amazon.

The same goes for a 78, too, right? If it were more traditional V/T setup with dual 500k pots my effective loading is 250K, so no reason not to try a 250K volume…

I'd personally use 500k on either pup especially on a single humbucker single volume. It just gives you more range to work with. You can just roll the volume down a little to get the effect of a 250k.

I'd say 250K for the JB, probably 500K for the Super D. Never had a Super D in a Strat myself though.

Lately I prefer solid core hookup wire - it holds its shape and makes soldering easier.
