pot values help

hey guys......im building something that requires a 2K linear pot, and i can only find 1K linear, and 5k linear.......im thinkin either one would work, but is it really going to make a huge difference, and in what way?.........i would think 5k would be the better one to go with, just because there is still enough, it is bigger than 2k, 1k might not be enough

It really depends on what your building and what part of the circuit that pot is going to be working with.
but for the most part- the 5k will probably be fine.

www.mouser.com sells small Alpha Brand pots in 2k values...I'm pretty sure they have audio and linear taper..I use these pots in my wah mods and they are available..

A 5K resistor across both outside lugs of a 5K pot gives you 2.5K or there abouts...Close enough(Plus or minus 20%) on pots...
