Potential NGD on the way - Peavey Signature Series Goldtop

So the other day I was at my local shop when a particular goldtop caught my eye. It's a Peavey Signature Series gold top, dual cutaway design, 24.75" scale, 24 frets, 2-vol 1-tone 3-way switch, 3x3 headstock, all gold hardware. I plugged it into a Blackstar HT40 combo and to be honest, I was quite blown away with how she played and sounded. I'm used to playing 22-fret guitars, I don't really need the extra 2 frets. It's $270, I put 20% down (fully refundable if I change my mind) just to put it on hold until I make up my mind on it. For those of you who have played or owned this line of Peavey guitars, or Peavey guitars in general, what are your thoughts? Personally I think it felt great in my hands and the mojo came naturally, but I'd like to get some other opinions before I shell out the extra money to bring it home at the end of the month. Below is a pic of what it looks like, but not the actual guitar itself. It is in VERY pristine condition, like brand new.

I've never played one or even seen one before, but that thing is gorgeous. Hope you snag it.

The later Peavey USA guitars were fantastic. They just got better and better... until they closed up shop in the US. :gurmpy:
I have a USA Limited, which is more of a Strat type instrument, and that's really nice. I played one of these Peavey USA HP series guitars or whatever they were called, like the one you're eyeing, at a shop once. I liked it a lot. Great tones and the neck was very nice to play on.

Peavey's were known to be solid built guitars and became great guitars when you get rid of the junk hardware and electronics....

That being said, the quality of import guitars has greatly improved over the years. Most of them, regardless of brand are made in the same factories. Sort of why I think Chappers guitars are too expensive for the cheap appointments they offer. For $270, I think you're getting a lot of guitar for little money.

I'm all about playability and tone for great value, as my '06 Epi LP Custom has taught me ($100 from CL back in '08 with cracked headstock... fixed and it was a steal!). A couple people came up to me and said by the way I was playing it, it was as if it was made for me. I think more-or-less I did make the decision to bring it on home, and I can't wait to add her to my ever growing arsenal.

I was looking for this model last night, must no longer be made.

This had better not turn into an Astrozombie thread - where it runs to four pages but the guitar never gets bought.

Buy it , take it home and play it. After some upgrades it could be real nice.
