Pots?

I'm wiring a Saturday Night Special in bridge with YJM Fury in middle and neck positions.
I will use a 5-way CRL switch and 1 volume and 2 tone controls. My question is what values of the volume and tone controls to use? They will be on a Fender American HSS Stratocaster Deluxe with alder body and maple neck/fingerboard. The amps I'm using is a Friedman Smallbox Head, ENGL Powerball 2, Marshall JMP 2203 1977 and a Marshall 1959 Plexi Super Lead Head 1968. Im not to found of harsh bright sound. I want it to sound full with smooth highs and load of articulation and dynamics. Don't know if that has anything to do with the pots, but I mention it just in case.

Re: Pots?

Worth trying different combos here. I'd start with 250k volume , 250k tone for the singles, and 500k tone for the humbucker. If the humbucker is too dark, bump up the volume pot to 500k and see how it affects your singles. Cool rig there!

Thanks for the input. Will try it out the way you described. What brand have the best pots?
Yeah, I love my rig. It's very versatile and covers all styles.

Re: Pots?

How much money do you want to spend? CTS probably are the most popular replacement pots and standard in many higher priced guitars. About 5 bucks each. Some of the Bourns pots are good (I like them anyway). About the same price as the CTS. Alpha pots are standard in a lot of guitars and generally considered a step down. PEC has guitar pots but I've only seen standard values, 250 and 500K and a long shaft 500K. No push pulls, no loads, special tapers etc. They are about $25 each.

Besides no-name pots, that's all I can think of off the top of my head. There are Fender and Dimarzio branded pots and Seymour Duncan branded pots and some others but they are made by either Bourns or CTS. And the Emerson pots, by CTS.

It does have a lot to do with the pots. Using all 250k pots gives you the most warmth. And as you increase your values to 300k or 500k, you'll gain articulation but sometimes harshness as well, depending on the pickup.

Re: Pots?

Any wiring schematic for 1 Saturday Night Special Bridge and 2 YJM Fury in the middel ans neck positions. I'd like to have a schemtic for auto split and I use a CRL 5 way switch, 1 volume and 2 tone controls. I also would like to have the treble bleed.
