Power to the bass

Hello bass players,
I'm using 06' anniversay fender mex' jazz bass and I feel like my bass is not agressive enough.
I want my bass to crunchy and aggresive, I want my bass to have an attitude, a pair of two.
I was thinking about replacing my JJ mex pickups to the MOST aggresive S.D pickups.
So pepole - what is the most bada** kind of S.D pickups for my bass?

Re: Power to the bass

Easier route is putting a RAT pedal on your bass.

Here's ole Dave Mims with a low output bass pickup into a Rat pedal -listen at :43

Re: Power to the bass

I'm not a fan of bass pdeals.. I like the narural sound of the bass.
I've heard that the SJB-3 the Q/P pickups are the most powerful S/D bass pickups.
Is that right?

I don't know which is the most powerful -but Quarter Pounders get a huge sound -but they are passive, so they won't approach the output of an active set, I know players like active hot EMGs because they have a slight aggressive growl and more detail -listen to any Primus song to hear the growl I speak of.

I prefer passive to active for rock.

You simply cant go wrong with QPs

Having used QPs in several basses for several years I can't see why the signal would need boosting. I had them in my '76 P for a long time and replaced them only because I didn't need/want something that hot.
