Practice unit for the office

Hey guys, I'm looking for a practice unit for the office at work. I would love to be able to stay in my office at lunch and work on stuff as I am usually too tired by the time I get home and I need to get more practice in. I can keep a guitar here with no problem.

The first unit I looked at is the Boss Micro BR-80 which seems like a fantastic unit but I wondered if there was anything else out there with a small footprint, lots of features (recording, aux in, etc) for practice, that won't break the bank (on a limited budget since I just made a major move and started a new job so replenishing savings). I'm so far behind on tech that I figured some of you guys would be able to point me in the right direction.

Does the Digitech record tracks? Wasn't aware they made recording units, but I've also not kept up with all the players.

An older Tascam Porta-02 digital unit isn't bad. Has some decent sounds in it, but only stores on CF cards, and unless it's been upgraded is limited to 16GB. Or was it 16MB? I forget.

um no
the RP 155 is the lowest priced unit with a USB port that can connect to your PC's DAW
they have units that will record short loops but those are on the GNX series pedals

I used a Vox headphone amp in the office. I could go off at lunch with headphones. Late at night when the office was empty I plugged it into my computer speakers and the thing sounded awesome.

I have been eyeing those
they have several versions including a Bass version with a click or drum loop of some kind

there is also a Monoprice thing that is the same thing but $13

Well, I figured since he said he wanted it to have a recording feature, and use it in his office at work, that his DAW isn't on his day-job PC, but he still wants to lay down a track, or at least play along to something besides a boop-ticky-ticky backup track.

I missed that

The RP155, RP255, RP355, RP500 and RP1000 pedals all have a 20 second looper and the RP360 series has a 40 second looper. How long do the GNX pedals record?

Re: Practice unit for the office

GNX3 and 4 use an SD card with multitrack recording
the amount of tracks and Card size determine time

You are correct! I do not have my DAW at home. I run Guitar Rig 5 at home and have plenty to choose from for recording and practice options. I'm somewhat limited at work.

Headphone amp of pretty much any kind should get the job done unless you want a speaker.
