Prail configuration - 2 vol 1 tone 3 wy switch

Hi everyone
Total noob here - apologies if there is a resource somewhere on the forums that would answer my question, but I couldn't find it!
Ive never wired in different pickups before so I may be setting myself too hard a task here...but
I have a 1986 Ibanez Roadstar RG652 (Japan only model) that I would like to upgrade with a set of P-Rails.

The wiring diagram for the factory pickups in the Ibby is, I believe, exactly the same as this: https://ibanez.fandom.com/f/p/3672182290907442699

The way the current set up works is that is - bridge and neck volume knobs each has a push/push that splits the stock humbucking pickup
- 1 master tone
- 3 way toggle for selecting the pickups.

I cannot find a wiring diagram for Prails in that configuration on the Seymour Duncan website.

I'm thinking that I will have to replace the pots with push/pulls (the current ones are the push/push - i.e. latching style ones)
I'm not concerned about having the series versus parallel option, but really want to be able to have each pickup (neck and bridge) as a PRail where I can select P90coil, the rail coil or the humbucker.

So, the nearest I can find to a diagram that would show me how to achieve that would be this one:

2 vol push/pull 2 tone 3 way toggle

As I have no idea - I'm hoping someone could show me what this diagram would look like if the 2 tones were replaced with a single master tone knob??
...and I'm confused as to why the neck pickup black wire seems to go to the bridge volume and vice versa? My reading of the instructions with the pickup would have me doing the opposite....

any hero greatly appreciated!

A single master tone would be tapped off the switch output that goes to the jack.

Basically, individual controls go between the pickup and the switch.
Master controls go between the switch and the output jack.

The P-Rails are wired so that the black and white are always the P90 coil hot and ground respectively, whether neck or bridge.

The other coil is wired red hot green ground to fall into line with SD Humbuckers generally.

That SD wiring diagram is a PITA to follow,, but get it right and it will work..

I just fitted P-Rails to an SG then moved them to a DIY HH Strat. The Ibanez has much the same toggle switch as an SG or LP, by the looks of it. So whether you follow the full SD wiring diagram or do as I eventually did and just wire full humbuckers / coil splits to the P90s you'll need at least one push-pull.

If you want independent volumes and a single tone, put the pickup hot wires to the middle lugs on their respective volume pots. Then send both of the non grounded lugs on the volume pots to the single tone pot input lug.

Do not put a ground wire between the volume pots. Don't ask me why because I haven't got a clue, but you won't get independent volumes if you do. Remember to ground each volume pot casing to the tone pot casing individually though. The output jack ground, bridge ground and if you have one body ground should also go to the tone pot casing.

Wire the tone pot input lug to the output jack hot as well. The tone pot is then in parallel with both hots as it should be.

For more on independent volumes Google Les Paul independent volumes.

Awesome tip - probably obvious to everyone else, but very helpful to me. thanks....so where would the ground wire form the bridge go?
