Preamp switching question

Hi, can anyone please advise me how to switch between two pre-amps running into a power amp. Is it an a/B box?

I have a blues deluxe and mesa v-twin. I want to be able to use the clean and drive channels on the amp, but switch to the v-twin pre-amp in one foot stomp (i.e. not just use the v-twin as a dirt box as I would need one stomp to take the fender from drvie to clean then a second stomp to engage the v-twin). So I thought I could run the v-twin into the effects return, but am not sure if I can just use a y-connector to also run the effects send into the effects out and control it with an A/B.

Guitar - A/B
A - amp input - effects out - effects return
B - v-twin - effects return

Is that all I need to do? Is there a better way of doing the same thing?

When I had 2 preamps, I used the Boss LS-2. It works pretty well, cheap and very versatile.

The LS-2 is a great switcher (I've got one on my pedalboard that I use all the time). I use it to switch between two stompbox loops.

But for amp switching I love this Radial A-B-Y switcher best of all...
