preamp tube positions

in a tube amp, when looking at it from the back, is V1 the furthest to the left, and V2 the next one over and so on?

V1 is normally the one closet to the input jack as it is the first gain stage.

I agree with Slightly Rude. Preamp tube closest to the front input jack.
