PREDICTION of the FUTURE!

I PREDICT..... as prices rise on 1970s guitars to the point where people can no longer afford them, 1980s crap like Kramers and Deans and Washburns will suddenly SOUND BETTER than ever! They will mysteriously acquire "vintage" properties only found on guitars that have aged, like fine wine!

I predict! And bet the farm on it!

Re: PREDICTION of the FUTURE!

You're right, I'm starting to see that trend on Ebay: "Vintage Kramer Focus" "Vintage '88 Charvel"

More than anything it makes me feel old!

Re: PREDICTION of the FUTURE!

It has already started. I remeber a few years about you could pick up Charvel Model series guitars for cheap. Sometimes under $150. Now, they are over $400. Give it a few more years and it will be even more I bet.

Re: PREDICTION of the FUTURE!

Well, it is mint but, just cause you ask for a certain price does not mean it will sell for that price. It may though, it looks **** nice and IMO that guitar is still better quality and thus a better buy than its asking price.

Oh, I'm not denying the quality or value of those Model series Charvels, I have two and paid $300 for the pair!

In the mid 90's you couldn't give 'em away!

Yeah, I got a pink model 4 with the chainsaw case at a yard sale for $75. I couldnt pull the money out of my pocket fast enough.:fingersx:

It was at the end of the weekend and everyone must have passed over it. Like you said, you couldnt give em away but, I knew it was tha bomb!

WOW, thats a cool bargain! That kinda stuff never happens to me! Unfortunatly I took one of mine and modified it with a pickguard and routed it for a HSS setup. I wanted it to be more strat-like and couldn't afford the real thing at the time. It filled the need and look pretty good....under the pickgaurd was another story but you couldn't see it. I'm currently looking for an old body on ebay to bring it back to more original specs.

Let that be a lesson kids: The mods you make to your guitars in your teens and twenties you'll most likely regret in your thirties and fourties! :barf:

Re: PREDICTION of the FUTURE!

With all the 2000-2005 guitars I have, I'll be rolling in the dough in say... 30 years. ;)

Re: PREDICTION of the FUTURE!

80s kramers and deans are crap? Since when?:eek13:

The reason they are valuable now is because people have finally come to realize they were **** fine instruments..and unfortunately they are now rare.

Those old Vintage Deans are every bit the guitar any old USA Hamer is, and my Nightswan craps all over anything Fender has put out in the past 25 years.

Unless you are talking about plywood strikers, and late 80s Korean Deans?

if thats the case you should really make a distinction.

Re: PREDICTION of the FUTURE!

I just paid $799 for my 1993 USA Jackson Soloist, with original case and hangtags. It came with a Bill Lawrence L-500 XXL bridge pickup, stock Jackson stacked singles, Schaller Floyd, and original hang tag. The 5 way switch wasn't working, so I replaced it, but a lil'59 in the neck and trying to get a JB Jr for the mid.

I think the Japanese made SL-1's are going for $1299 new, and USA made going for $1900.

Re: PREDICTION of the FUTURE!

That's a little above a model 3 though wouldn't you say?
Actually that's a pretty solid price.

Yes, though I got alot more guitar for my money. Neck thru, ebony fretboard, real pearl inlays, quartersawn one piece neck

I picked up one of those Charvel model 3's in a pawn shop for $125. I stripped it for parts.

Re: PREDICTION of the FUTURE!

Wow, those guys are smoking crack.

I would NEVER pay more than $200 for any Charvel with a Fort Worth TX neck plate.

I am curious as to why? They are good guitars and alot better than your run of the mill $200 or $300 axe.

Nothing wrong with import Charvels, but not at $400-$600.

You can buy used reissued San Dimas for not much more.

Re: PREDICTION of the FUTURE!

already happened!! 80s Charvels and Kramers have gone up a bunch! 80s Kramer Barettas are fetching $600-800 for an excellent example.

Back then, I was very opposed to the companies making stuff in Japan..But these Japanese Charvels and Kramer Focus' are amazing deals!! GREAT players and decent prices
