Presonus Audio Box: Mono Output/Impedance?

Dilemma: I play along to YouTube/mp3s on my MacBook, using a 5" powered monitor as a speaker, and my guitar through a Presonus Audio Box and GarageBand (so GarageBand and mp3s/YouTube both going out the monitor.) I want to hear both sound channels through the monitor at the same time as my guitar.

Because the Presonus has only left and right speaker outputs, at present I'm only able to hear left channel plus me, or right channel plus me, depending on which jack I use. I can't get l+r+me simultaneous.

-Is there a MacBook setting to output mono sound? If so I can't find it.
-If not, is it safe to run a splitter speaker cable to combine l+r channels to the monitor? Or will that cause an impedance issue and hurt something?

Combining channels is not a great idea.
You are better off using a DAW and setting each source to mono on the monitor input.
The output will then be mono from your interface.

Stupid me, the mono setting is in "accessibility" and somehow I failed to google that. Still, it's nice to be able to pan the guitar track out and fill in... On occasion I like hearing both parts as I play, though.

I've never used a DAW; that would be new territory for me but I'm interested now anyway.

Glad you got it sorted. There are many flavours of DAW, most all of which have a free 'lite' version you can audition.
