Prestige Guitars from Canada, Anyone have an opinion of them?

Condemned soul

Went to visit a new music store in town. When I walked in, there were a couple of LP shaped guitars with headstocks that reminded me of Heritage. When I went over to 'em and read up close, they were Prestige guitars.

They seem like solid well built guitars, played well, and sounded great. Has anyone tried these guitars or have any experience with them.

Here are the two I saw.

Description
Credited as the model that started it all; the Heritage Standard encompasses every concept and idea that guitar enthusiasts ever wanted. From top to bottom the Heritage Standard is constructed with choice Canadian woods. A solid mahogany body and an exotic AAA Grade quilted maple top, not only enhances the drool factor, but juices up the tone and sustain. The Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 (neck) & SH-4 jb (bridge) pickups were selected for this model - as this setup works best in bringing out the true Heritage sound.

Several things:

1.) Interesting they chose to call the model "Heritage".
2.) Personally, I think bookmatched quilted maple is gilding the lily, just a bit.
3.) JB in a LP-type guitar. That's right, buttmonkeys!

Buttonmonkeys is right on target.

This company put 59's and JB's in all of their electric guitars including the hollowbodies. Sounded great was relative-I could guess which pickups were in the guitar without being told.

JB's can be changed. I've had a JB go thorough three guitars before it found a home.

Am more interested in opinions concerning quality and construction.

Oh, c'mon. It's like putting general-purpose tires on a car that's meant to have broad-based appeal. They'll get you started, and if you want something different, you're the one best suited to picking what to put in there.

The tops are too shiny for my taste. What happened to the good old plain maple tops?

I also wouldn't mind seeing a body shape that looks a little more original... I don't mind it when other models are involved but I have issues excepting Les Paul copies. Go figure.

There's another Canadian company that also makes LP copies with a headstock that looks almost the same:

"I got your Canadian tone wood right here!" is what I said before she threw a drink in my face.

Their "showroom" is on Commercial Drive in Vancouver. Google Street View shows it as a taco place. If I'm ever in the area I'll go check it out.

Actually, since they're local, and they use SD pickups, I might profile them in my first SD Blog post.

Let us know how the tacos are.
