Would replacing the stock MIM neck plate with an American plate do anything to enhance the sound/sustain?

Any help is appreciated!

Re: Probably a dumb question about my MIM Fender Strat

Nope, sorry bro. But, what you can do is replace the saddles with Graphtechs, and add wooden business card shims to the sides of the neck pockets so that the body gets a better grip on the neck. Also, if you want better sustain a whole lot, put the trem flat on the body and block it with a hardwood, such as purpleheart. Then, get a new nut cut for it out of bone, graphite, or synthetic bone. For alot of sustain, you could go with a brass nut, but, I would'nt recomend it, it'll sound thin and wimpy. If you do decide to go with the Graphtechs and business cards, I can tell you what kind to get, and I've got some wooden business cards I can send you. Hope this helps bro.

About how much do the Graphtech saddles run?
Are they fairly simple to change?

Re: Probably a dumb question about my MIM Fender Strat

They usually run about 35-50, depending on where you live and how much your local shop owner wants to make. If you know how to intonate a guitar, then you can change your saddles. It's only unscrewing the old one's and installing the new ones. But, depending on what guitar you have, you need different size saddles. If you dont know what size you need, PM me, and I'll help you out.

Thanks for the info, Beandip! I'll let you know if I decide to make the change!
